This Year's Model Updates:

The 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with the 5.3-liter V8 receives tweaks that yield incrementally better fuel economy, including a standard six-speed transmission and variable valve timing (the 6.2-liter V8 also receives the former, and the 4.8-liter V8 the latter). All V8s can now run on E85 as well as gasoline. Side curtain airbags, front-seat side airbags and stability control are standard on all models, and all stereos except the base unit offer USB connectivity. Finally, the 6.0-liter V8 has been dropped.

Pros:
  • Smooth and quiet ride, agreeable seats, powerful optional V8s, comprehensive standard safety equipment.
Cons:
  • Large turning circle, bland base interior design, mediocre cabin storage.

  • I got a sweet deal - 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Ok looked around at the 1500 Silverado all had 5.3 liters which are great. Then I looked online at a dealership a few miles away from my house and they had a 2010 1500 Silverado with a 6.2 liter engine at I think 403 hp rear view camera, and remote start, manual shift for towing up step grades, trailer brake control system, power back window, back up sensors and much more. I got this truck for the price of the regular 1500 lt price. Its made like an ltz but with a killer deal I love it baby.

  • Maybe a little too fancy - 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Nice truck, looks like a luxury car inside & rides like one too. Smooth shifting transmission & powerful 5.3 L V8. The only prob I have is at night the headlights will dim for a split sec then come back up(Im taking it in to have them check this) & the volt gauge will drop when sitting at a stop light with the A/C on, annoying but normal according to the owners manual. The truck has an Electric Power Management system that can reduce the power demands of some accessories when needed. The A/C kicks on & the interior lights dim! My F250 never did these things to me, but it never gave me the mileage this Chevy does. A really nice, smooth, & powerful truck (if you dont mind a dipping volt gauge)

  • poor mpg - 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

My truck says the estimated mileage is 15 city / 21 hwy I drive normal and my mpg highway is 16 mpg and city 12 this has been my worst truck in fuel consumption, you can even see a dirty black tailpipe, dealer says, if it does not show codes it is fine it drives great and I like it except the mpg and no dic switch for a Lt I guess as not to scare us for the estimated mileage it was going to show honestly, if I had known of this poor mpg I would still be buying ford trucks, they always gave about 19 to 23 mpg my wife love it and at the same time hate it because it didnt came with running boards like all my other Fords other than that it is a great truck with poor mpg

  • 2010 Chevy Silverado 5.3 crew z71 44x4 - 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

I love the truck except for one thing..it has a clunking noise in the transmission/ rear end. I took it to the dealership and all they did was lubricate the rear end. The noise is still there! This is very frustrating so I can not recommend this vehicle. If I could get a refund--I would. The transmission mechanic said that it was something I would have to live with!

  • Great light duty pickup - 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

After 3 years and 22,000 miles, no real complaints. Dealer replaced Chevy bowtie logo on tailgate twice under warranty due to cosmetic flaking, and recently re-programmed the setting on the defroster to eliminate an interior cabin fogging issue, but all else is mechanically perfect. Gas mileage on the 4.6L V-6 is not as good as I was hoping (only ~19mpg highway empty bed with no A/C running and 55mph speeds, & 14mpg city). Interior treatment is an expanse of bland gray plastic and the dash seems poorly designed in terms of storage, with 3 cubbies too small to be of any real use. However, these are relatively small issues. I like the truck overall very much and will keep it for yrs.

  • Utter Disappointment. - 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

This was my first brand new truck I bought. I previously owned a 1995 Chevy Cheyenne truck and loved it. I wished I never got rid of her. I only had my 2010 Silverado for 4 months before I traded in. Within 4000kms the transmission had to be replaced do to a loud whining noise. It took me months of battling with GM to get the transmission replaced. At one point the truck was at the dealer once a week. The driveline clunks loudly. The speakers vibrated and rattled. The back window of the truck squeaked and creaked. Passenger side door had something lose inside causing it to rattle as well. Within the first 1000kms the engine developed a ticking noise when warmed up. Terrible truck!

  • Super Silverado! - 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Traded in my 03 Honda Pilot. Great vehicle but wanted more capability for hunting, fishing, outdoor stuff. Considered F150. Test drove my LT Z71 and was hooked. Comfortable ride on road and great so far doing some light off-road (I plan to challenge it more later). Powerful engine with great low end torque and high end horsepower. At 80 mph only 2,000 RPM. Rated for 21 MPG on highway which is actually higher than my Pilot. So far I am averaging 17 MPG in mixed driving. I anticipate this will improve some with time.

  • New truck bad tranny - 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
    By -

Bought new 05-08-2010. Transmission is failing. Will not hold vehicle weight in rev or drive on an incline. Very dangerous situation pulling small boat and trailer. Actually will pull boat backward down ramp while in drive. Taking back to dealer Tuesday, June 01,2010. Still have temp tag on vehicle! A friend has a gmc on its 3rd tranny.

  • Poor Quality Build - 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
    By -

Purchased a new 2010 Silverado and after 200 miles the interior noise became unbearable on the highway. Sounds like the rear passenger door of the crew cab is not closed. The door is closed, but the cab vents behind the rear seats are allowing for loud road noise. Wind noise can be heard though the weather strilling around the doors at hiway speed. Went back to the GM dealership to complain, and even though they admited that my vehicle is louder than most vehicles, I was told that "they all sound like that". I find this an unacceptable answer. The dealership offered to Duct Tape over the cab vents, but this would make closing the doors difficult.
